Teachers teach children to read, but how do the children retain the information? This program, Secret Stories, is a simple but highly effective tool used in classrooms to encourage students to remember the information that is often meaningless to a child.
Phonics are boring for kids but with the help of Secret Stories, it provides a meaningful and fun story to promote retention!
I have seen students firsthand learn the "ch" and "sh" sounds, but once they are working independently, they can not decipher or recall which letters create the different sounds.
This program provides posters, each having a simple but fun picture hung up in the classroom. Students can look at "ch" and know that the choo-choo train on the picture represents that specific sound. "Aw" and "au" are in love, and you can see this on the poster with hearts to remind students of their sound. Students use this tool while reading and writing until it becomes second nature.
