Help me give my students a way to communicate! I am requesting this for a student who is nonverbal and needs a personal device that he can access an app to communicate with.

My Project

I am requesting an iPad and an iPad carrying case to be used as a personal speech generating device for a 4th grade student in my district. This student is nonverbal, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a lot to say. There are communication apps that can be downloaded to the ipad that will give our little spartan full access to a vocabulary to express his wants and needs.

Can you imagine what it would be like to not be able to ask for help or to say I love you to someone?

That is what our student is struggling with because he not does not have a personal speech generating device to help give him a voice. The carrying case is requested so that he can easily carry the ipad with him from class to class. He will be able to say "hi" to friends at lunch, ask for help in the classroom, and share his thoughts and feelings to connect with the world around him. This would be a life changing improvement to his quality of life and in his ability learn and communicate.
