Give a Student a Pencil

Help me give my students the basic supplies needed to be successful when first learning to read music. A pencil to write in their music and a highlighter to help them better track their part in their music.

My Students

A classroom flooded with joy, laughter and students singing every day! This Title I school, with over 60% of students on free and reduced lunch, will soon be home to one of the best choral programs in the region. Currently, 260 students (24% of the school) are enrolled in choir, more than any other fine arts program in the school. The student population is as diverse as the music choices made for my choir.

My primary focus is to give these students authentic music with an emphasis on world music.

A majority of the students will never leave this area, music gives us the opportunity to reach out to other cultures and experience another part of the world. My students feel challenged and find success in their hard work, creating better students and better citizens.

My Project

Students from a low socioeconomic household struggle with the ability to provide the basic essentials for success in school. Please consider supporting my classroom by donating a pencil and a highlighter for each and every student. Give these students the tools to be successful as they learn to track music, define music vocabulary, and explore various cultures from around the world. Help them to be successful and to not have to worry where they will get their next pencil to use in school. Every donation to my classroom will be used to help these students to become better musicians and better students.
