This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What if one of the ways you learned was through using patterns, pictures, or objects? Some children on the autism spectrum think, learn, and organize information this way.

The majority of my truly amazing students are diagnosed with autism and also face the challenges of coming from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background.

They have a wide range of abilities in their social, cognitive, and language skills and need certain modifications to ensure that they have a balanced instructional program with functional and academic rigor.

This year my class consists of six amazing students who will be learning remotely this year. They are visual-kinesthetic learners and learn best when they have access to motivating visual support and hands-on materials. Learning over a screen has its challenges, but through creativity and teamwork, my students will continue to persevere and overcome obstacles that may try to stand in their way!

My Project

Remote learning is an evolving process and with change comes the ability to adapt. Our teaching schedules have shifted once again, calling for more group instruction. Learning doesn't end when the school day finishes and it is important for my students to carry over skills learned during all 1:1 and group math lessons into the home.

I would love for my students to spread their wings and soar with game-based owl-themed pattern activities to use at home with their families.

The Owl Patterning Family Engagement Pack has materials that reinforce color and pattern concepts through interactive turn-taking gameplay. It takes a village to raise a child and being able to provide resources for families to use at home strengthens the camaraderie and provides a more fruitful learning experience.
