My Students

I am the librarian for 235 students in a Title I school in Southeast Missouri. Poverty does not hinder success in our district. Even without basic community services, like a public library, our students still find a way to succeed.

Our students know that Readers are Leaders!

They know that reading is a leading factor in overcoming the culture of poverty. They are learning that when you open a book, you open your mind.

My Project

A "Little Sharing Library" will give the students in my community the opportunity to read outside of the school day. The students will have access to books that they may take home and read with family and friends. After reading the book visit the "Little Sharing Library" again to trade for another book!

Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are.

Reading at home with family and friends will create memories and promote a love of reading. This opportunity will help our school and community!
