Do you remember what it was like when you were younger and got so excited to participate in school sports? The girls on our middle school soccer team have all that same pride and intensity, but none of the necessary equipment.
The girls on our soccer team attend an inner-city public middle school in the state of Indiana.
The majority of our athletes are Hispanic, English language learners, and come from working poor households. While all of the girls have a passion for soccer, they are especially excited to have their own team this year separate from the boys.
My Project
Our students do not often have the opportunity to be a part of something greater than themselves. Through this donation, the students on our team will realize that girls' athletics are valued just as highly as boys' athletics. We currently do not have the equipment or budget necessary to accommodate the level of interest shown in joining the team. While money is poured into male athletics, our girls deserve the same opportunities to develop team-building skills, exercise their passion for sports, and learn to become student athletes both on the field and in the classroom.
We have the opportunity this spring to create the first all-girls soccer team in our district.
In order to turn this opportunity into reality, we need your help. The basic equipment that is part of this request will have a dramatic impact on our fledgling program. Your donation will help build a lasting program that will influence young girls' lives now and in the future.
