This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

What l love about my wonderful group of girls is the confidence they have about themselves. At this age, the girls are eager to learn any and everything about the world around them. No matter what life may bring at home they come through our school doors looking for unconditional love from both staff and each other. Our girls love to express themselves. As a teacher, my work is to build character and give the girls an equal opportunity in education as their counterparts across the world.

My Project

Students who use manipulative more than worksheets are found to be more interested in education. Worksheets can become boring and repetitive. The students will have more exposure to geometrical shapes and how they work. The measurement tool will help expand vocabulary such as “bigger and smaller”. Also, the students will have an opportunity to perform small scale experiments. The girls will have an opportunity to make a hypothesis about weight and measurement. This will lead to our girls becoming comfortable on analyzing a situation and making a guess on what could happen (i.e. engineer or scientist). The sight words building blocks will also assist in building and teamwork skills.
