Girl Power! High School First Responder Team

My Students

How can we be first responders without any medical supplies? Truth be told, we can't. My students have generously agreed to help fellow students, staff, and community members by using their first aid skills, but they need the proper tools (first aid kits) to do this.

My students are a group of motivated high school juniors and seniors from a small public high school in Massachusetts.

Most of the students drive, and participate in after school sports or internships. Arming these students with first aid kits either in their vehicles or lockers would benefit the school community in so many ways.

My Project

My students need 11 first aid kits and 4 boxes of sterile gauze to use to respond to school or other emergencies. If you give students the tools to do a job, they will use them. If my students have first aid kits, they will bring them to and from school. They have already promised to do this. The kit will go from their car to their locker daily, and upon graduation (most graduate this year), they will have a tool to keep that will benefit community members in the event that the need arises. One never knows when they are going to be in need of first aid supplies. We have a group of kids who are motivated and willing to carry them, why not allow them to?

My students have all passed a C.P.R.

and First Responder course. They are continuing with their Medical studies next semester in an additional medical course. Students are in need of basic first aid supplies in order to help members of the school and/or community at large. If it was your family member or child that was sick or injured, wouldn't you want someone to have the adequate tools to be able to help them? My students are motivated, ready, and willing. Let's help them succeed.
