With the pandemic restrictions the past few years, some of our yearly celebrations have been reduced or cancelled. A year before the pandemic, I wrote a project for my students to make gingerbread houses before our winter break. The students loved it! They were so creative with their designs and they couldn't wait to take them home to enjoy with their families. Students also had to problem solve to figure out how to get their structures to stay up. Above all else, the students enjoyed the creativity of creating their houses. I would love to do this for my students again. The requested graham crackers, icing, plates, knives, and candy will be used by my six classes of middle school students to create their very own gingerbread house.
