Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 4th Grade in Gilroy, California. My students are in a Dual Immersion program where they learn both English and Spanish.

They love learning and find our school to be a safe place.

I cannot wait to be back in person with them this fall!

My Project

My students & our community continue to heal after the trauma of both a mass shooting and the pandemic. One area that I feel I can better support my students is through the 200 hour Breathe for Change training in which I will study powerful mind-body wellness practices like yoga/mindful movement, mindfulness, and breathwork - and learn self-care, social-emotional learning, and community building strategies that positively impact my students and colleagues lives, classrooms, and schools.

After completing the training, I will be able to support my students with their social-emotional needs through a trauma-informed research-based program.

At the end of my training, I will be a certified yoga instructor and qualified to teach wellness classes for my students and school community.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
