My Students

I teach some amazing 3 and 4 year-olds every year, but my group this year is extra special. We have been virtual for the entire school year, but I have seen them in person several times while doing home visits and making deliveries. They love receiving things that they can do with their hands. While I have already given them some wonderful hands-on activities, I have noticed that when I pull out any kinds of cubes, blocks, or manipulatives that they could sit and entertain themselves for hours.

All of my students are at-risk but come from loving homes.

I would love to help supplement what they already have with some other manipulatives. I want all of my students to have a love of learning and to be able to create at home since they are unable to at school.

My Project

My Head Start students have been learning virtually for this entire school year. There are a lot of materials in the classroom that they haven’t been able to use and manipulate if they had come in person. Many of these materials are vital to their growth in literacy.

All children love magnetic letters, and I especially love these giant letters because they are easy for the children to grab and manipulate without being a choking hazard like many of the smaller sets.

Literacy skills are the foundation of all learning and I want to help support this importance at home.
