Getting to school toasty and warm!

Help me give my students a warm walk to school so they can come everyday during our frigid winter!

My Students

My students are bright and motivated! They love to learn and are excited about incorporating more technology into our science class! My students are currently starting out the year learning all about science and the scientific method. They are very engaged in doing experiments, are thrilled at having their own personal science book to read and take notes in.

Many of my students lack access to the basics.

Pencils, paper, notebooks, index cards. If parents don't provide it, students do not have the availability to provide for themselves. I also can not afford to supply all 120 of my students with consumable materials. I had a set amount at the beginning of the year, and they are now gone.

My Project

I chose to ask for winter wear for my students. I currently teach in one of the poorest districts in the country, and most of my students walk to school.

If students do not have appropriate winter wear, and many don't, they simply do not come to school.

We have many days where it is below zero degrees and this results in a lot of missed days for many students.

My hope is that by supplying students with basic winter wear it will be more encouraging for them to get to school, increase attendance, and in turn give these students the bright future that they deserve.
