Getting the Wiggles Out

My students need 28 exercise balls, in place of chairs, to sit on during classroom instruction.

My Students

Everyday we have the wiggles, and students just can't sit properly. Don't you remember being in school sitting on those hard and uncomfortable chairs? Wouldn't it be great if students could learn better just by changing what they sat on?

Our elementary school is about 70-75% free and reduced price lunches.

We are in a high poverty area. My students all try, and want to succeed to their fullest potential. It's hard at times to keep their attention, or to keep them motivated. I know that given the right tools, this can all be changed.

My Project

My students will use the exercise balls in place of a chair. This will help them to keep their focus in class, sit properly, and get the wiggles out. It was said that, "The whole theory with the brain is that when your body's engaged, your brain's engaged." A college professor did a study on his students' and found that the balls improved their focus and their attention, that just everything overall was better. I will also have balls stationary at our Reading group table, so that as I meet with a group they are able to still stay focused.

With these balls, my students will not only perform better in class, but it will keep them constantly engaged.

Helping their academic performance improve, all while keeping their attention and focus in the classroom. These balls will still allow my students to get those wiggles out, all while keeping them out of those hard, uncomfortable, non-wiggle-able chairs.
