Help me give my students the opportunity to color code notes & assignments (vibrant colorful paper) & use whiteboards for practice (expo markers). Students love the color for notes & ability to practice on the individual whiteboards.
My students are intelligent and definitely have plenty of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging assignments, but through a less formal classroom setting. They come to school each day with the desire to succeed in what they accomplish, and I love being able to aid them in reaching that level of success that they are striving for.
I teach in a school where the students come in with so many different backgrounds, so it would be really wonderful to have more materials to give them access to, as these can aid them in reaching the level of success that they desire.
Given my students come from these many backgrounds, it is important to note that they all have different abilities and resources that they bring into the classroom. They do not all thrive in a mathematics classroom, so I am constantly looking for new ways to interest and encourage them in the mathematics classroom. I am doing my best to incorporate as many different teaching strategies as possible to to ensure this, as they are all so very individual and special.
My Project
I teach math in high school and many students have lost interest in math by the time they reach high school. That being said, with these supplies, I can get the students a bit more excited about learning.
Students love hands on learning where they get to take control of what it looks like.
By allowing them the opportunity to color code and practice with whiteboards (a much less scary platform than online or for a grade), the students loosen up and are typically willing to try a little more in my class. I would really love to be able to support my students in this way.
