Getting Reluctant Readers Excited about Reading!

Help me give my students access to exciting historical fiction literature to entice reluctant readers.

My Students

Our class is filled with some characters with big personalities! We are a Title I school serving students in Northern Durham. In our class we have students with special needs, English Language Learners, and students who struggled during virtual school last year. This year these students will work hard to build the skills they missed last year and meet the rigor of 4th grade!

My Project

4th graders need to know how to READ to LEARN! My class has successfully launched Book Clubs this year, with students reading the same book with 4 or 5 classmates. Some of my more reluctant readers have shown enthusiasm reading an "I Survived" book about the American Revolution, it is the most excited I have seen them during Book Clubs. To keep the enthusiasm going, I want them to have access to some other "I Survived" books to read during Book Clubs. Help me bring a love of reading and learning about history to my students!
