This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, I want to provide my 24 students with many learning opportunities. Our school is a public school that houses grades first through eighth, right outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are located in a Title I school and 100% of the students will receive free breakfast and lunch. My students thrive when give attention and positive reinforcement. They are energetic, curious, and motivate to learn and soak up all the information surrounding them.
My Project
Our classroom is in need of basic school supplies. Many students are sent to school without the basic supplies that are needed to be successful throughout the school year. Because these supplies are needed, teachers are often replenishing supplies so they have them throughout the school year. Most of the supplies I am requesting are crayons and markers, which are needed for various projects throughout the school year. I am also requesting pencils because we typically run out of pencils by the end of the fall season. The folders will help keep the students organized with the different subjects and group rotations.
