This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a New Arrivals English Language teacher. My students come from all over the world and they have just arrived in the United States and my New Arrivals classroom. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences, and excitement to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch in school every day.

My students are creative, clever, and very enthusiastic about learning a new language and culture.

Throughout the year, I teach approximately 40 students how to read, write, speak and listen in English. They are eager to embrace their new language and new life. The materials I am requesting will better equip me to work with "my kids" to develop their language skills and make them more comfortable in a brand-new school and life!

I am humbly requesting your donations to help me procure the listed items to better enhance my students' learning. The reading/writing center will be used during small group instruction to address the specific skills each child needs to improve. The markers, legos, and earbuds seem to "disappear" each year! My kids don't have the money to buy their own supplies and games, so I want to be sure that they have the materials they need. The nameplates and covers provide additional help in learning how to write their name in English and also has the alphabet, number grid and number line to support their learning. I am grateful for any help you can provide. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
