My Project

My students need a variety of glazing materials to get creative with their art! Glazing materials are limited in my clay classroom due to limited funds. I would love to give my students a variety of glazes that could enhance their artwork and take it to the next level. I am currently teaching four beginning clay classes and one stacked advanced and Advanced Placement ceramics class. My classes are made up of 30-35 high schoolers each (9-12 graders) that range from students on an IEP, English language learners, homeless students, and gifted students. When we run out of materials, I buy some of the materials out of pocket or students have to use glaze colors that don't match their ideas.

With the addition of more glaze colors to our inventory, students will have more opportunities to make the ideas they have in their heads become a reality.

I have personally bought glazes for my students and seeing the end result come out of the kiln lit up their faces. They were so proud of their work and when the other students saw what they made, they all started asking me to pick up more colors of glazes. I want that excitement and love of creating to continue year-to-year and am so excited to see what my students will come up with next!
