Getting Lost in Good Books

My students need books that are engaging and keep them wanting to read! They are constantly looking for new books to grab hold of and read through feverishly.

My Students

Our classroom is one that is full of excited and energetic learners. My students love getting the chance to read around the room. They actually beg me for free reading time so they can immerse themselves into different worlds and walk in their characters shoes.

We are a suburban district that prides itself on providing students with learning opportunities that enhance our teaching.

Our building has been blessed with an amazing library that is full of different genres of books that range from the lowest to the highest levels.

My Project

Through Amazon, I chose books that I hope will capture the interests of all the different readers in my classroom. While our unit of focus at the beginning of the year is solely realistic fiction, some books that were chosen were based more upon the interest of the students.

I also focused on books that can be found on the Mark Twain Award Nominee list for this year and years past.

Learning about the Mark Twain awards in library time has motivated my students to seek those books out and read them.

These books will be categorized and placed in our classroom library so that every reader in my classroom has the opportunity to get their hands on one!
