Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with kindergarten students in a Title I school. The majority of my students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch. It is a small school with about 550 students. The students attend full-day kindergarten.

I love teaching kindergarten because the kids are so eager to learn.

They are like little sponges, soaking up all the information. With budgets being cut every year, I need to look elsewhere to get the resources my students need.

DonorsChoose has been a great place for me to get the things that I need for my classroom.

My Project

I have found out that I will not be getting my classroom laptops back next school year. The school district is going to one to one devices, so 3rd grade to 12th grade will be receiving the laptops while kindergarten through 2nd will get iPads.

I want my students to learn how to use the eLearning tool Canvas on the laptop in case we ever have to go into shelter in place again.

This way the students will be familiar and comfortable with using it. It was difficult for the students this year because they had not had a lot of practice using Canvas. Who would have thought this was going to happen. I want my students to be better prepared next year just in case.
