I have three wonderful classes of students who are full of energy and are so excited to come in and learn new things each and every day. My three classes consist of two block classes and one homeroom class. I teach science, social studies, writing, and grammar to my homeroom and math to my two block classes.
My teaching style is very student centered.
I see myself as a facilitator of learning. My goal is to give my students the resources that they need to make learning happen for themselves. By doing this, my students are recognizing that the most powerful and lasting learning does not come from being told what or how to think but in learning how to think and form ideas for themselves.
My Project
I am requesting a Chromebook for my students to use in class. This project is to help my students receive the technology that they need in order to develop 21st-century skills and get connected to the world. My students will use these devices to complete assignments, research various topics, practice math skills, and engage them in daily learning activities. It will also serve as a way for students to become more aware of how to use technology as a resource to help them learn about the world. At our school, students use devices on a daily basis to complete assignments and practice various skills. My goal is to eventually have a 1:1 device to student ratio.
