Hello, I am a Pre-K teacher in the York School District One School District in South Carolina. This four year old program is open to students who qualify either due to academic need or they are from a low income family. My students are precious and they deserve the very best start to a public education. Many of these children need the extra love and support to start school off successfully.
This project is important because in our classroom we are required to have nap time which requires cots.
We currently have cots but they are in need of being replaced. Each year students are assigned a cot and they keep that cot for the full school year. Students bring blankets and pillows from home to keep at school to make the time more restful and comfortable. Thank you for considering the opportunity to give to my project!
My Project
With the purchase of these 20 new cots, my students will feel more comfortable and well taken care of at school. Due to our program being a federally funded program we are required by the state to have a one hour nap time each day. Our schedule requires academics in the morning and recess and nap time in the afternoon. Many students are getting on the bus at 6:30 am each morning and entering the classroom at 7:15 am. Nap time is a necessity by the afternoon.
Our scheduled nap time is a very developmentally appropriate activity for this age group.
Many students are exhausted once we lay down at 12:20 pm each day. We play quiet music and give them time to relax and feel comfortable and safe. I am looking forward to giving them this practice again this year.
