My Students

I work in a new charter school and as with many other schools buying books and supplies is a challenge. My students come to school eager to learn and discover. My students are very interested in the things happening in the world today and they love to discuss the events of the week. It is my goal that my class has quality, high interest and thought provoking reading materials.

My students absolutely love reading.

This is a trait that I would love to see them develop into their adulthood.

Our school's goal is not to make good students but scholars. With donations to purchase reading materials for my classroom we can make that goal a reality.

My Project

I have chosen to request the Scope Magazines for my classes. These magazines provide high interest articles that are tied to the common core. In addition, the magazines provide ample opportunities to practice reading fluency.

My students can't get enough of reading interesting stories and informational texts.

They love my trivia of the day and I always try to tie it into whatever the main articles are about in the magazine.

I love to use the Scope magazines to teach language arts skills such as, reading comprehension, grammar and fluency. These books are wonderful and will help my students to become life-long readers.
