My Students

This is my fourth year teaching, and my first year teaching fourth grade. When I found out that I was teaching fourth grade, I was nervous. I always saw myself as an early childhood teacher. That all changed when I met my first student. I teach some of the most thoughtful and diverse of students. All of them have big dreams when they graduate from school. They range from being a farmer like their dad to being a doctor. Over half of my students live in poverty and will never leave their rural town. I want to show them that their dreams ARE possible with a little hard work and perseverance. I want them to know that they have an adult in their corner that not only supports their dreams, but supports them as well.

My Project

It has been a dream of mine to attend a Get Your Teach On conference. However, the funding at my district just wasn’t available for me to attend. I have a passion for being an educator, and I’m always learning new and innovative teaching methods to engage my highly diverse fourth graders.

This conference will allow me to not only be a better teacher, but allow me to ignite a passion for learning in my students.

During the conference, I would get the opportunity to learn new teaching strategies from some of the best educators out there. The opportunity to learn from such educators such as Hope King and the rest of the Get Your Teach On presenters would be an absolutely TREMENDOUS opportunity. This conference would allow me to attend sessions by many teachers that are experts in their different subjects and their ability to create an engaging classroom.
