Get Those Hearts Pumping!

Help me give my students a way to understand the powerful connection between movement and heart health by tracking their heart rate and reflecting on how physical activity strengthens the heart.

My Project

While attending a conference last December, I was introduced to these heart rate monitors and how they were used in a classroom. The presenter talked about the buzz the monitors created as students watched their heart rates rise and fall in real time, depending on their movement and effort levels.

That moment really stuck with me—it highlighted the powerful, immediate connection between physical activity and heart health.

It’s this same connection I want my own students to experience. By using heart rate monitors in my class, my students will see how their hearts respond both instantly and over time as they engage in different activities helping them learn more about their bodies so they can make healthier choices.
