My students come from many different rural backgrounds which makes our school unique. The students from our district are predominantly from farming, blue collar, and middle class families.
There has been a strong musical tradition at our district for decades and it is important to carry on that tradition through community performances.
There are a number of different performing ensembles in our district. One of my students' favorite activities is to learn new music and then perform that music for others.
Our staff, teachers, and administration are all anxiously engaged in improving not only the academic lives of the students, but in creating more well-rounded people. They realize that music education is an essential part of that education because they've seen the positive results of music in the lives of our students.
My Project
Getting this keyboard, stand and bench will make performances in our community a more gratifying and memorable experience for students and the community alike. It is important for young students to have quality accompaniment to support them as they learn to develop harmonies and dynamics.
A critical part of music education is to teach students that music is a life-long process, and to teach them that it is important to give back to the community that you're part of, no matter your age.
My student choirs will travel to local businesses to sing during different seasons and to provide a service to our community.
By getting this keyboard, stand and bench, we will be able to increase our visibility and volume to allow us to sing at even bigger venues. This keyboard with built-in speakers will provide strong foundation for students to encourage their confidence and it will boost the volume to crowds.
