This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a class of Kindergarten students who come from a high poverty environment. All of our students are eligible for free or reduced-priced lunch. We are located in a large city in an area that has low-income properties and housing. We provide weekend meals to our children along with a Farmer's Market food pantry that is offered monthly to our families.
Our school has the highest immigrant population in our district.
We have many students in our population who speak English as a second language and have very little opportunities for real-life experiences at home. My Kindergarten students have come to my class with little exposure to academics and life experiences.
My Project
With technology evolving daily, it is time to have our dry erase whiteboards in the classroom evolve as well! My classroom needs an interactive wireless system that will change our dry erase board from just a boring board into a hands-on, manipulative screen! Children will be able to interact with lessons in a whole new way with this system. They will be able to use the pen to manipulate objects on the board, write on the board, and draw responses that correlate to lessons. This system turns your whiteboard into an interactive screen, making our lessons come to life!
