This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello, I'm a third grade teacher at a title one school. I'm in the front line of helping bridge the gap in our literacy. Many students are not on grade level and as I made the transition into third grade, I've seen it first hand. While I have a large classroom library for my students, I've noticed that many of my books are not on my students reading level.

A classroom library filled with books on their level will encourage independent reading.

My students will be able to access books that they can read on their own and improve their fluency, comprehension, and sustained reading time.

My goal is to have students read on their own for a certain period of time. This can only be done if they are able to read the book in front of them. Please help me improve my classroom library to meet my students needs and their reading level.
