Every morning, we gather on it for our daily circle time, where students share news and practice our social-emotional learning. During literacy block, it's transformed into our cozy reading corner where small groups dive into guided reading sessions. The soft surface has made floor work so much more comfortable.\r\nWhen my students first walked in and saw the beautiful new carpet, their eyes lit up and several of them immediately asked if they could sit on it! One student ran her hands across the soft surface and said, Mrs. Wolf, this feels like a hug! Another student commented that it looked like the reading areas in the public library. The excitement was contagious - they couldn't wait for carpet time that first day!\r\nWe're currently working on a unit about community helpers, and our carpet has become Community Circle, where students act out different roles and practice interviewing skills.","fullyFundedDate":1746785943314,"projectUrl":"project/from-our-classroom-carpet-to-their-summe/9327315/","projectTitle":"From Our Classroom Carpet to Their Summer Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wolf","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9567634_orig.jpg?crop=2048,2048,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720646243079","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9567634"},{"teacherId":9178232,"projectId":9537867,"letterContent":"Creating and displaying visual examples of healthy habits in our elementary school gym has had a powerful impact on our students. By seeing bright, kid-friendly posters and charts that model positive behaviors such as proper nutrition, staying active, and making safe choices, students are reminded daily of the importance of these habits. The visuals help reinforce what they learn in class by giving them concrete images to connect with, making abstract ideas like \"balanced eating\" or \"hydration\" more understandable and relatable.\r\n\r\nThese posted examples also serve as constant encouragement and motivation for students as they participate in physical education. When they see images of kids like themselves practicing good habits, it normalizes those choices and inspires them to do the same. Teachers have noticed that students are more eager to discuss what they see, and they often bring those ideas into their activities and conversations. Overall, the visual displays have created a more engaging and supportive environment that promotes both learning and practicing healthy habits every day.","fullyFundedDate":1756093260821,"projectUrl":"project/healthy-habits/9537867/","projectTitle":"Healthy Habits","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Allen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9178232"},{"teacherId":7872107,"projectId":8424824,"letterContent":"In second grade we are working hard to learn all the decoding skills to help us read longer texts. I explained to my students that we are using all of our knowledge from the school year and applying it to the novel. In the pictures you will see some samples of \"Draw the Scene\" where students took the details from the story and create the setting. Students have also been using their knowledge of dictionaries to look up the vocabulary words. I think my favorite so far has been \"Prove it\" where students had to go back into the story to support their evidence.\r\n\r\nTo ensure everyone is reading, we are doing a group reading session. I've been excited to see how many students want to read out loud. We take turns reading the story everyday and then have a class discussion on what has happened and what we think will happen next. Then students complete the activity for the say that relates to the section we read.\r\n\r\nSo far, everyone has enjoyed reading. I have students who remind me what chapters we are one and others who are looking forward to watching the movie of it. Some students have already seen the movie and have expressed the differences they have noticed.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for supporting my class with this adventure.
