My Students

My classroom consists of students in grades K-2 with special needs. They are on various levels within academic skills and achievements. The students have a wide range of ever changing abilities. My school has a population of low socioeconomic students who are part of the free lunch program.

Students within the classroom are often off task and need redirection and transition to stay focused.

Keeping the attention of various age and leveled students can be challenging. Continuing my education is an important aspect of improving student learning environment.

My Project

My project is a professional development opportunity to attend the 2020 GYTO ( Get Your Teach On) conference. This conference offers instructional best practices that are directly aligned to standards and collaboration with educators within their specific grade level and content areas.

These best practices will increase students desire to learn, increase academic rigor, and challenge them to think outside of the box.

Within the four day conference I will learn various strategies from the GYTO team that I can bring back to my classroom. The strategies were created by some of the top educators who are experts within the education field. The research based innovative ideas and strategies encompass various senses within the structure of skills being taught. Supporting students with strategies that encompass visual, tactile, and auditory modes create a positive impact within the learning environment.

The professional development offered within the GYTO conference will provide professional growth for my school. After completing the four day conference I will bring back ideas and strategies to my school by presenting what I have learned within my schools Professional learning community (PLC).
