Giving my students an alternative to sitting at a desk or table will allow more attention to task, comfort, and ownership of their learning. The standing desk will allow students to stand while they complete tasks. The floor seating will supply a positive choice to do reading centers. Students enjoy having choices within the classroom. Choosing where they will start their day of learning will supply ownership for all students. We start our day with a recap of the prior day and the students evening at home through journal writing. The standing desk and floor seating will make my students excited to begin their day.
