Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students love coming to the library whether it be to check out books, read in a book nook, listen to stories, or participate in a variety of Makerspace/STEM zones. Our Makerspace/STEM zones encourage them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using technology and building materials. Many of our students need an opportunity to sit in a calm, quiet area where they can have an outlet for creativity and enhancing their writing skills. That's where the Zen Zone comes into action.

In the Zen Zone, students will be able to create origami crafts, make their own bookmarks, as well as draw and color.

They will also be able to do reflective journaling, write poems, and other activities that stimulate their creative brain while allowing their bodies to relax. The goal of having a zone that promotes serenity and relaxation is to give our students a break from overstimulation and chaotic thoughts.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
