Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and thirst for learning. Even though many live in households with limited resources, my students come to school every day with a positive attitude and are ready for new learning. Learning is not limited to reading, writing, and mathematics. I will use the requested materials to support the whole child.

My students expressed to me their desire to learn how to play football.

One group of students suggested that the only way they will learn the game is if they can learn the skills of football. And they also stated that the only way to learn the skills is if they practice them with the right equipment. Having these footballs will not only build my students' skills for the game, but it will also build their self-esteem because they will have the confidence to go out and try joining a team. Half of my students have never touched a real football. Right now, we only have one ball that is falling apart, and it is made out of sponge. It is difficult to teach 25 students the skills of the game when not everyone can practice at the same time. Having these footballs and other equipment will allow my students to practice in pairs, and it will give me time to get around to everybody in a timely manner. These footballs will inspire students to become athletic, outgoing, and self-confident.
