Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology is not just a desire, it's also a motivator. My students want to step into the era of technology, they just haven't had the resources. Motivating my students through the use of technology will not only help them with their school work, but also help them prepare for the future.

My students are enthusiastic learners who live in a high poverty, high crime area.

Often, they lack resources at home to succeed. Many do not have technology at home. School is one of the most consistent things in their life. Our school has about 800 plus students, so resources are scarce. The little technology that our school has is outdated and needs to be updated in order for my students to be competitive in today's world.

My Project

All of my students work hard at learning how to read and reading to learn. Having a Nook would be a great way to help my struggling readers improve their skills, and for my advanced readers to experience a variety of genres and chapter books. A Nook would also help with research for class projects and help my students with their daily reading fluency skills. Our goal is to have every student be at grade level in their fluency skills.

My students face more challenges than the average child.

Yet, they come to school every day eager to learn. They appreciate the smallest things, so a Nook would be a gift to them that keeps on giving. We would be forever thankful!
