This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is 50-60 students, some eager to begin our daily workout, some others not so much. But, Each student has their personal fitness goal. Each student is well aware of the benefits of being fit. We talk about it every day! Being fit makes you the best you can be!

My students, most from poor families, come to school every day, each with a different story.

Each kid has a unique idea about health. Some have been schooled on the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, some act as if I was the first person who told them the impact of how they treat their bodies. I love opening their eyes, and seeing them realize this themselves for the first time. My school is awesome! We have one of the more diverse student populations in the city. Our school is known as a place where everyone gets along. This makes me very proud to be here. Our school is a sprawling campus in the heart of the city. One may confuse it for a college campus.

My Project

My students need a mobile computer. All student names and test scores will be entered into computer, and be used to chart and graph each student's current levels of fitness, as well as chart their goals and progress towards reaching their goals. The equipment will be instrumental towards keeping records such as each student's body mass, upper body strength, abdominal strength, mile run time, and flexibility measures. These are all factors in getting fit as well as passing the California State Fitness Test.

My students will use this equipment to be MOTIVATED!

It is very hard to decide to make a change and get FIT. I explain to them, making this commitment to a healthy life is probably one of the toughest and most challenging things you will ever do. But, it will be the most rewarding thing you will ever do for yourself. By being able to chart and monitor their progress, it will give them motivation by seeing results, and by seeing the progress towards their goal.
