Get Fit, Get Movin'

My students need hula hoops, footballs, rings, and things to explore more fully a wider variety of energy expending and mind expanding activities.

My Students

I teach at an elementary school that serves mostly disadvantaged students who come from less than desirable homes, but they come to school everyday full of energy and ready to get active. There are over 500 students in grades PreK-6 of which I get to see all of them except the PreK students. They love PE, and with that many students equipment can wear out quickly.

Energetic, enthusiastic, and eager to be active can best sum up my students.

They love competition and the challenges it brings. Classes are large with 25-32 students per class. Each student brings energy to our class along with laughter and lots of smiles.

My Project

Having access to these activity tools will not only give my students opportunity during PE class it will help set them up for success in the classroom.

Healthy bodies and healthy minds go hand in hand. Each one of these resources can be used in multiple ways and along with a little teacher ingenuity academics can be added with physical activity. Hoops and footballs can be used to develop and improve hand eye coordination, balance as well as a variety of team activities which in turn gives students an opportunity to increase self esteem and confidence. With your help both active bodies and active minds will be put into action.
