A typical day in our 5th grade room starts with smiles and high-fives at the door. There is a sense of joy that makes our classroom special—the students love to learn! They love to set their own goals and surprise themselves when they see their own potential. I love observing this!
A large percentage of our students fall below the poverty line, yet still come to school every day with a positive outlook and they are eager to learn.
My students are hungry for knowledge and skills, and it is such an honor to be one of the many educators called to facilitate their learning. I am particularly proud to be educating 5th graders in my classroom; as they are building a strong knowledge-base and habits to prepare themselves for middle school next year. The thing I love most about my school is how we integrate so many different methods of teaching. From books to guest speakers, field trips to technology; each and every one of our students is presented with knowledge in multiple avenues.
My Project
There is nothing more rewarding than to see my students who have a passion for learning. My vision is to integrate this Chromebook into our classroom routines, so my students can use the various online math and reading programs that our school provides. St Math and Accelerated Reader are two programs that significantly improve my students' comprehension, fluency, and math skills. This Chromebook will also enhance students' typing and writing abilities, which will prepare them for middle school. I am extremely confident that my students will benefit from having this Chromebook available to them while they are at school, especially because most of my students do not have computers and Internet access at home. In addition, familiarizing my students with this technology will benefit them in their future education and personal lives.

I am confident that the students will benefit from having this Chromebook available to them while at school daily. My students will take pride in their accomplishments and reach their goals by having access to this amazing piece of technology. I can also utilize our behavior management plan, Class Dojo, on the Chromebook. Students receive positive reinforcements and accumulate points throughout the day. My fifth graders love this program!
