My Students

Our Title I funded school, located in Bergen County, New Jersey serves a culturally diverse group of students from ages pre-k through fifth grade. Our school serves just under 500 students, with more than a third of students being from low-income households. Many of my students come from various home life dynamics, such as non-nuclear families. Our students work hard and they love to explore, discover and learn. It is always a pleasure to work with such wonderful students and their families.

My Project

Part of my role as a school counselor is to ensure our school provides a positive school climate and culture where our students can feel safe, comfortable, and happy coming to school each day. Each child should know they are in a safe and healthy learning space so they can continue to grow socially, emotionally, and academically during their time here at our school.

Part of providing a positive school climate involves ensuring our students who may require a little extra support have the unique tools they need to remain cool, calm, and collected.

Being in this state of mind allows our students to learn and grow to become the best versions of themselves and achieve their full academic potential. This project requests items to further support the school counseling classroom. We would love to have comfortable emoji floor cushions for the students to use while reading our SEL books or completing giant floor puzzles. The requested item includes a set of 6 Emotion Floor Cushions. These items will appeal to students while providing fun, comfortable flex seating to help ensure our students feel supported in a safe and healthy learning space.
