I am a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school where students rely heavily on the structure of their school day. My focus is to provide them with as much stability as possible. The classroom demographics include: ESL students, 504 students and Title I students. Each of these children receive multiple, various types of modifications throughout the course of the school day.
Personally, I feel extremely compelled to make sure each of these students' needs are met in literacy.
My classroom is filled with multiple sensory learners and I would like to provide them with flexible seating and more options in our classroom library.
My Project
In recent research, it is proven that if you give students the flexible seating option, they will be more comfortable and, therefore, more capable of learning. I am requesting three stools so that students can sit at their desks and be alert and ready to learn. Also, these stools will provide an easy way to maneuver around the room.
Since I am starting in a new classroom, I thought the Jennifer Serravallo books would be a great beginning to my classroom library.
They are high interest, quality books that I believe will be a great start to getting my students excited and motivated to read!
