This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Fifth graders are truly a joy! This was my first year teaching upper elementary, and I must say I was a bit nervous. I have since grown to LOVE fifth graders. My students are a group of learners who, despite most circumstances, come to class ready to learn with lots of personality and humor. They show an interest in a variety of things, and each student is wonderfully different.
My desire for my students is to teach them how amazing they are as individuals, and as a group.
They are children who are ready for anything, including a classroom filled with wonderful teaching and learning opportunities! Many of my students are not meeting grade level benchmarks in language arts, yet they show an interest in reading. They have so much courage, and I truly admire them.
My Project
My fifth graders will be taking Georgia Milestones in just a short few months. They have worked very hard all year long to master the skills they need to be successful readers and thinkers. One way they will be able to demonstrate what they have learned is by taking GMAS in April.
To help my students get through these intense days of testing, I would like to put together a SNACK PACK!
They will be able to kick back and enjoy some yummy snacks before and after testing. If I have learned anything about fifth graders, the love a nice sweet treat.
