Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are strong and resilient. These chaotic times have made their learning difficult. With this new school year approaching many will need to receive education through direct exploration.

Most of my students are of low socioeconomic level.

Covid affected their families financially. Some of my students will not have the material necessary for class.

My Project

I am requesting compasses, protractors, pencils and colored pens which will allow them to succeed in Geometry. Many of my students arrive to school without proper resources, among them is pencils. I often have student requesting a pencil and find myself without extras. I then ask them to write in pen. Mathematics is a subject that is best learned by trial and error, and pens can make this process difficult and messy. The pencils will be used to support my class by providing them with an instrumental tool.

Additionally, my students will utilize these materials to support their learning and exploration of Geometry.

They will be able to create figures using the compass and protractor. This will be integral in their understanding of Geometry as it is a subject that is best learned through hand on activities and real life experiences.

Finally, your donation will support my English Language Learners and Special Education students through the use of the color pens. They will allow my student to annotate their documents. The colors will allow them to retain the information best.
