This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have an interactive math classroom to allow students to interact and organize their algebra and geometry concepts. My students are all behind the mark with algebra skills and are at risk of not graduating because they have difficulty passing the state Algebra I and Geometry exams. I need to help them increase their skills in this Geometry course so that they can put Algebra and Geometry behind them and put them back on track for graduation. (This will supply 4 to 5 classrooms!)

Our students are more than 80% Latino and from low-income households, and these factors will help boost their learning.

Every year, student reading and math abilities get worse, and these items help me bridge the gap nearly as wide as the Grand Canyon! It is fantastic to see the student's eyes light up when they work together to understand the math that has eluded them throughout their school careers! While they are all tuned into their electronic devices, my students are compelled and enjoy working "old school" with these items at their fingertips.

The students I teach do not have the funds to help with classroom items such as these. More than 85% of our students are low-income and minority students. Please help fund these items to help my students learn algebra and reach their goal of walking across the stage at graduation!

This is a second set of GeoStix so that our new Geometry team members will all be able to have the same manipulatives to help our students sore to a new level of understanding.
