Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have an interactive math classroom to allow students to interact and organize their algebra concepts. My students are all behind the mark with algebra skills and are at risk of not graduating because they have difficulty passing the state exam. I need to help them increase their skills in our Geometry course so that they can put Algebra and Geometry behind them and be on track for graduation.

Our students are more than 80% Latino and from low-income households, and these factors will help boost their learning.

Every year, student reading and math abilities get worse, and these items help me bridge the gap nearly as wide as the Grand Canyon! It is fantastic to see the students' eyes light up when they work together to understand the math that has eluded them throughout their academic careers. While they are all tuned into their electronic devices, my students are compelled and enjoy working "old school" with these GeoStix and others (part 1) at their fingertips.

The students I teach do not have the funds to help with classroom items such as these. More than 85% of our students are low-income and minority students. Please help fund these items to help my students learn algebra and reach their goal of walking across the stage at graduation!
