My students need 13 atlas'; which will allow us to partner up and learn about the world around us.
This project expired on February 23, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Being a kid is no easy job and it can be even more challenging when you have a classroom that is not inspiring. It is my challenge to provide an atmosphere where the kids want to be here and learn along the way.
"Bravo!" is how my 3rd grade kids cheer for the student at the front of the room in the morning.
While I am just waking up, on my 2nd cup of coffee, they are already self motivated and running through the routines. Colorado is a wonderful place to grow up but it can pose challenges too...like foot deep challenges in December. Our school is lucky to have wildlife around us and often see deer waking up on the field as we do the same.
Geography is the key to knowing where you want to go...in life and in the classroom. These Atlas' will help us to locate points of interest during our ancient civilization unit. The abstract nature of ancient history is a difficult one for 3rd graders so as many concrete connections we can have the better we will do.
In addition to using these atlas' for social studies we will also be doing a morning geography puzzle. A picture of a place will be shown wiath geographic clues being given until we have a winner. It is my hope we could have a cartographer out of this group!
Being a kid is no easy job...brothers, sisters, constant homework and a nagging teacher makes just showing up challenging.
When we make education fun by letting them enjoy coming to school with a focus on the thrill of learning new places and concepts rather than constant drill it will be a profound place of wonder. These books will help us get that much closer to that environment and for that I thank you!
