My students need three laptops, a printer, computer mice, a stapler, paper, and file folders to help them publish their essays and complete college applications.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic, eager young people who attend a high school in a high poverty area of our city. They take pride in themselves, their neighborhood and their culture, and love to learn about other people and cultures as well.
Many of my students are on their way to becoming the first in their families to obtain a high school diploma, so they are taking the necessary steps to achieve college readiness.
Some of their goals include applying to a reputable college, getting accepted, and finding a way to finance their education in order to realize their dreams.
My Project
My students will use these laptops, printer and office supplies to publish their essays for my English/Language Arts class and to apply to colleges and scholarships.
While my students are looking toward the future and are eagerly anticipating attending college, many of them have difficulty accessing reliable computers and printers to complete the necessary paperwork to do so.
If my classes are granted these items, they will not only be able to complete their writing assignments in my class, but they will also be able to take a step in achieving their dreams by applying for colleges and scholarships.
Since not every student has access to the internet at home, or to a working computer and printer, they would really appreciate being able to use the laptops and printer I requested for my classroom.
