The vast majority of my students come from low income homes in an urban setting; hunger and "going without" is a regular occurrence for them. Our students, however, are hardworking young people with aspirations to go farther educationally than their parents and to find new and innovative ways to improve their community by solving everyday problems through industry, fresh ideas and dedication. They are open to new experiences, and are hungry to learn more about the world outside their bubble, and are excited to put their skills to use. Despite their economic circumstances, they still have a positive outlook for the future, and know that acquiring knowledge can help them to have a hand in creating it.
