My Students

What was the world like over 100 years ago? This is the question that my children will try to answer. We will use our math skills for measurement and we will apply archeology field study skills to 4th grade.

We live in the coastal region of North Carolina.

We are what they call a Title One school but we are also a school of excellence, which means we have received high scores on our end of year testing. My classroom is made up of 11 boys and 12 girls. Most of my students are military children due to the Marine base being part of our community.

My Project

I am hoping that by participating in this archeology field work, the students will develop a love for this science. It will hopefully encourage children to look in to this field as they mature and get older. This is a small field that needs more exposure. From this specific activity I hope the children gain knowledge about what North Carolina was like 100 years ago and to see the similarities and differences between the people then and now. We are hoping to unearth a few artifacts near the old railroad to explore!

This project will open their eyes to many new ideas and topics.

It allow them the use higher level thinking skills and open an entire new scientific world to them. Who knows, we may even make a discovery worthy of national news!!
