My 1st Grade students are a mixed group of learners. They come from a variety of backgrounds, have different levels of previous knowledge and work at different levels of enthusiasm.
First Graders are a high energy group that have a strong will to learn and a curiosity about how things work.
This is the perfect time to learn how to think creatively and work on problem solving skills.
We are nearly at 50% free/reduced lunch as a school as well as being a Title I school.
My Project
I would love to support my students with creative problem solving skills. That starts with providing them with the opportunities to experiment with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math or S.T.E.A.M.
Providing my students with these opportunities will allow them to develop critical thinking skills and see real-world connections.
The building materials and kits I am requesting will be allow my students to use their imaginations and explore essential problem solving skills. My students would also benefit from literature that will support S.T.E.A.M concepts. Students will be able to think critically, to create, to communicate and to collaborate with classmates.
