Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school is in the process of having a school garden for the students. I wish for my students to have gardening experiences both in and out of the classroom. The seed starter tray with grow lights would be great for my students to plant seeds in the starter tray, and observe for themselves the seed to seedling process through observations, which they will then be able to replant in planters and garden beds.
Children learn best through first-hand experiences in and out of the classroom.
I want my students to be young gardeners as they each experiment with plants individually and collectively. I have requested live edible plants for the kids to have to plant with trowels, such as tomatoes, peppers and basil. They will be able to see the difference of the growth of the various plants. I believe this will be great for them because they will learn all about the planting process and evolution. The picture books would be a great accompaniment for the kids to read and to see the vivid illustrations about planting, gardening, and teamwork. They will ultimately come away with being a green thumb class.
