Our town is a small industrial town in Coastal Mississippi. My students are typically in grades 9-12 and learn anything from Mississippi history, Psychology and even state tested U.S. history in my class.
My students are curious, savvy, and energetic.
They want what works best for them, and due to the large low-income population in our town, they don't always get it. Despite many challenges, my students work hard to learn and thrive in school. Each is unique and learns in his or her own way. I want to give them options to learn at the optimal level.
My Project
For the past year and a half, my students have worked diligently to create a garden in our school courtyard. They have willingly gotten dirty to create a productive growing space. Unfortunately, some of our tools were stolen.
My students have put so much effort into this school garden.
It breaks my heart we have suffered this small setback. We are still gardening and growing, we just need a little help. The rakes, garden tools, gloves and even the root buster will be a huge help for our fall and winter growing season. My students are ready to plant radishes and brassicas!
